Walk The South Downs Way

The South Downs Way is 100 miles of simply breathtaking views, nature and experiences. In 9 days you can make the historic walk from near to the beaches of Eastbourne to the former capital of Wessex, Winchester. It’s quicker if you cycle!

The Southdowns Caravan and Camping Park can make a very convenient stop at the end of the second day of your journey (or 7th day, if walking from Winchester!).

Walking maps are widely available and provide valuable information about the history, routes, places to visit and stay and, perhaps most importantly, where to eat and drink on your journey.

Cycle The South Downs Way

A Scout Leader said “Cycling the South Downs Way provided stunning views across the South Coast and was an amazing challenge.

The ride began with the group leaving the views of cliffs and seas behind and heading inland. Mixing narrow footpaths with wide, expansive spaces, the one common ground was a hill. Every bit of the route is either up or downhill! At times the hills felt brutal. Some we had to walk, some we struggled through. Some were downhill and yet still hard work!”
